Number of Boxes
The golden rule: n+1 boxes where n is number of cats. More is always better.
Size Matters
Box should be 1.5 times cat length. Kittens need low sides. Senior cats need low entry.
Location
One per floor. Quiet, accessible locations. Not in corners where they can feel trapped.
Litter Type
Most cats prefer unscented, fine-grained clumping litter. Depth should be 2-3 inches.
Cleaning
Scoop daily. Full litter change every 2-4 weeks. Wash box with mild soap.
